|I downloaded a jpeg from that camera, and printed it on my Epson 1270 on

|rez at 11x14 with premium glossy and...

|Holy crap...

|I can see why there is a glut of used MF stuff on the market now.

|It is as good or better than the best of my 35mm stuff at that size. Clean
|as a whistle, not a pixel out of place, with sharpness and detail in the
|highlights and the shadows that meets or exceeds the finest 100 ASA films
|at
|that size. Film still wins in the size department, but you would need a
|humungous scanner, or to have it professionally done at considerable cost.
|The images are breathtaking, with detail as good as a good scan of 120
|film.
|A really good scan. As in, NO DROPPED PIXELS ANYWHERE, and NO DUST OR
|SCRATCHES. PERIOD. The camera is at the present some $9,000.00 USD, but
|that
|price will drop. The next year or two will be critical in the digital vs.
|film race for resolution.

|And Pentax hasn't even entered the fray.
|
|This is a MAJOR blunder by them.

|Seeing as how the list was down all last weekend; and I got a chance to
talk
|to a Pentax Rep (yes they DO exist) at the local Henry's Sales/Show
|Extravaganza out here in Toronto; I decided to update you all on what he
|said when he asked me:

|Rep: Hi there! Can I help you with anything?
|Me (holding the MZ-6 w 28/80 test camera):  Ya... why haven't you guys
|brought out a DSLR yet?
|Rep (now looking stunned): Umm.. well, we did have a DSLR remember? The
full
|frame one with the 6MP sensor? But we decided not to go with it and now
|Contax has it.
|
|Me: Ya.. I remember, but it doesn't answer my question.
|Rep (now looking a bit perturbed): Well, we will bring one out; just wait;
|most of the manufacturers are waiting to display their goods at PMA.
|Me: So you think PMA?
|Rep (now looking worried that he's gotten himself into something): Just
|wait
|for it.

|So.. apparently.. yes..

|no definite time line
|no definite specs

|I think it's becomming like that song in the musical "Annie" :  The sun

|come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, come what may....
